Description

Solid elastomer rings are compression seals used to prevent the leakage of liquid or air and are very similar in appearance to O-rings. They are made of flexible, elastomeric materials and are capable of repeated contraction and expansion without excessive wear and tear. There are many different types of solid elastomer rings. Examples include X-rings or multiple rings, rectangular rings, quadrilateral rings, trapezoidal rings, T-section rings, delta rings, D-rings, heart rings, H-rings, and diamond rings. Most elastomer rings are mounted on a groove that holds them firmly and securely in place between two surfaces. Products such as rubber rings must fit securely to cover any gaps that may exist. Typically, the properties of advanced elastomers allow solid elastomer rings to return to their previous or original shape when pressure is released.
